2016 Accessibility Awards

Each year the City of Sarnia Accessibility Awards recognizes local businesses and individuals that have excelled and demonstrated leadership in improving accessibility and awareness for people with disabilities.

The Sarnia Accessibility Advisory Committee asked members of the community to submit nominations for businesses they feel have helped to create an accessible customer environment.

The awards will be distributed at the Sarnia City Council meeting on October 3rd, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. A reception will precede the awards at 3:30 p.m. in the City Hall lobby.

The 2016 award winners are:

  • Prelude to Excellence: Creating inclusive business environment for a large business (30+ employees) – Boston Pizza
  • Prelude to Excellence: Creating inclusive business environments for a small business (1 to 30 employees) – One Tooth Active Wear
  • Exceptional Leadership in Customer Service – A & W Lambton Mall  
  • Creating Opportunities for an Accessible Community – Joanne Somlai, SD Lambton
  • Exceptional Accessible Physical Environment – Lambton Mall Marketing 
  • Going Above and Beyond Award – Dan Edwards

“Each business and individual has done an outstanding job in making Sarnia a more accessible and inclusive place to live, and ensuring people with disabilities are able to participate fully in this community,” says Dale Mosley, Accessibility Coordinator.
