Transit Accessibility & Advisory Committee
Our Mission
To be proactive in initiating strategies for the public transportation services in the Sarnia Transit Service area aimed at providing accessible, reliable and affordable services to its citizens in a cost effect manner.
Our Goals
To identify opportunities for improvement through an on-going work plan developed and monitored by the Committee.
To provide a forum for input, exchange of ideas and debate on Transit related issues with all groups represented.
To elicit support for the Transit system where appropriate in order to promote a positive image and thereby increase ridership.
Our Membership
The membership of the Committee shall include:
Voting Members Appointed By Sarnia City Council:
_ A minimum of 1 representative from the disabled community
_ A minimum of 2 representatives from Sarnia City Council
_ A minimum of 3 City residents who are Sarnia Transit riders
_ A maximum of 1 City resident who is a non-Sarnia Transit rider
Voting Member Appointed By Point Edward Council:
_ A minimum of 1 representative from Point Edward Council
Voting Members Appointed By the Sarnia Transit Advisory Committee each September:
_ 1 Lambton College student
_ 1 secondary school student
Non-voting Member Appointed By CAW Local 4184:
_ 1 Sarnia Transit operator
Other Non-voting Members:
_ Director of Transit
_ Deputy Director of Transit
Sarnia Transit Advisory Committee Chairperson:
Shall be elected at the February meeting each year by the voting membership. In the event that the previous year’s Chairperson is not a Committee member in the new year, the Director of Transit or the Deputy Director of Transit will serve as Chairperson until the February election.
Our Reporting Relationship
The Sarnia Transit Advisory Committee works with Sarnia Transit administrative staff in an advisory capacity.
