Wastewater Treatment Plant

Water Pollution Control Centre
The City of Sarnia collects sewage through its sewer system and treat it at 2 plants. One is in the south end of Sarnia, capacity of 38,700 m3/day average flow per day and in Bright's Grove average daily flow capacity of 2,045 m3/day. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is secondary step feed activated sludge facility. The Bright's Grove System is based on the New Hamburg method using sand filtration.
The City of Sarnia Wastewater Treatment Plant biosolids are processed using the patented N-Viro technology. The N-Viro process uses alkaline materials, temperature and drying to produce a soil amendment product (a type of fertilizer). The product is sold to local area farmers.
With this technology the City of Sarnia provides a safe, beneficial use for their biosolids.
