Welcome to
Economic Development & Corporate Planning (EDCP).
Economic Development and Corporate Planning (EDCP) is responsible for the City"s economic development initiatives including Business Parks. An important role of EDCP is to work closely with the proponents of commercial and industrial development, ensuring that they have the information they need to make informed investment decisions and to expedite land acquisition and development approvals where necessary. This office responds to all types of information requests concerning potential investment in the City and is able to tailor information packages to the specific requirements of its clients.
Other functions of EDCP include the administration and completion of major infrastructure projects required for newly developed lands and management of the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport.
Marketing initiatives for the City are also managed by EDCP. The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership Office and EDCP work collaboratively to provide and create an atmosphere conducive to new and local business growth.
EDCP takes a lead role in City initiatives, such as the Sarnia Waterfront and Downtown Sarnia improvement projects including on-going discussions regarding the transfer of control of the Sarnia deepwater harbour from the federal government to the municipality.
EDCP is responsible for the administration of the Development Charges By-law, which requires the payment of fees by developers to cover a share of the costs of improvements to public services that are required as a result of the continuing growth of the City.
For general inquiries or to communicate directly with us, you may contact the staff of the EDCP office at economic@sarnia.ca .
