Play Safe in Our Parks

Committee's are formed consisting of City Staff and neighbourhood volunteers and service clubs who come together to make park improvements including purchase of play equipment, lighting and signage.  To date, over a dozen park committees have formed and have fundraised in excess of $500,000 for the installment of play units throughout

BAXTER PARK (Colborne & Lakeshore)

Thanks to Plater Financial Inc. and the surrounding neighbours & businesses for their generous donations towards the purchase of new play equipment that was recently installed.  A special thanks to the Sarnia Kinsmen club for their generous donation for the installation of a new basketball court.

MEADOWVIEW PARK (Avenue Rd. in Brights Grove)

Special thanks to the following businesses for their generous donation towards the 2nd Phase of the play equipment project...Colt Engineering, Scotia Bank, RNR Mechancial/Insultek and Dow Chemical Canada Inc.

CENTENNIAL PARK

A special thanks to the Rotary Club of Bluewaterland for their generous donation of $75,000 for the purchase of new play equipment at Centennial Park.  The project included the installation of 2 new play units, swings, spring toys and upgrades to the existing equipment.  The equipment is located between the Bay and Dow People Place.

BRENTWOOD PARK (536 Rosedale Ave.)

A neighbourhood committee has been formed to make improvements at Brentwood Park including the installation of new play equipment.  The fundraising campaign has begun.  Any businesses or service clubs interested in assisting with this project, can contact Shelley at 519 332 0330 extension 210,  or shelley.erwin@sarnia.ca to learn more about this project.


STUART/EMMA ST. PARK (Adjacement to Lighthouse Academy)

 In co-operation with the Lighthouse Academy, a committee has been formed to design and fundraise for new play equipment.  Any area residents wanting more information or to assist with this project should contact Shelley at City Hall. 

CARING FOR YOUR PARKS

This is a reminder to residents of Sarnia to keep an eye on our parks.  Please report any vandalism or arson that you witness to the Police Department.  Please report any damaged equipment to the Parks Department at 519 332 0330 extension 217.  Vandalism and arson cost you, the taxpayers, thousands of dollars each year.
