Canatara Beach - Blue Flag Project

Beach lifeguards will be on duty from June until August from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm daily. Qualified lifeguards will help to ensure public safety in a designated area at Canatara Beach.
Beach Volleyball courts are available for public use. Nets and Balls are attainable at the Lifeguard Shack for Sign out. Special events will be held throughout the summer. Call City Hall, Community Services for more information at 519 332 0330, or TTY: 519 332 2664 or contact the Lifeguard Shack at 519 337 1265 (June to August). Please note that floatation devices are not allowed in the guarded area, lifejackets are acceptable and the lifeguard shack has lifejackets for sign out.
BLUE FLAG PROGRAM
The City of Sanria has entered into the pilot phase of the internationally known Blue Flag. The Blue Flag is an International beach certification program that ensures the designated beach meets 27 strict standards based on water quality, environmental managment, environmental education and safety and service.
Canatara Beach is in the pilot phase only and hopes to have Blue Flag Status for the 2009 season. To learn more about this program, see www.blueflag.ca
