NOTE FOR THE 2013 SEASON:

The Parks and Recreation Staff are making every effort to work with the organizers of the various events that were to take place in Centennial Park. We will have a Calendar available shortly with the updated information. Please watch this section of the website for updates.

Carter Shows scheduled for May 30th - June 2nd will be held at the Lambton Mall.
The WATERFRONT PROGRAM, now entering its 21st year, continues to provide good wholesome family entertainment and activities through-out the summer months.  The Waterfront Program was established in 1989 by the City of Sarnia with the mandate to develop, facilitate and market Festivals and Special Events along the waterfront for the use and enjoyment of the community and its visitors.

WATERFRONT PROGRAM CALENDAR OF EVENTS

ANNUAL KIDS FUNFEST
Now in its 16th year, KIDS FUNFEST is firmly established as one of the must attend events for families in and around our community. Hosted annually in June, the Kids Funfest Committee with support staff from the City of Sarnia, is dedicated to the development of fun, creative and learning opportunities for our children. With thousands in attendance for Kids Funfest 2009, the Festival grounds came alive with music, magic and over 80 children’s amusements and activities. REPTILIA wowed the crowd with their world of reptiles in their 45’ Special Event Cruiser. The SCIENCE, SAFETY AND SPORTS ZONES provided fun and unforgettable learning experiences for the whole family. Again this year, the KIDS IDOL CONTEST and the MEDIEVAL VILLAGE were extremely popular with our local young people. THANKS to the generous support of our funding partners, friends and sponsors and community volunteers admission remained absolutely FREE

Kids Funfest is active families looking for programs which promote a positive healthy lifestyle for their children.   It’s where parents connect with programs that support how to make their children better students and active community minded citizens. Kids Funfest provides organizations with the opportunity to recruit their members and demonstrate to the general public what their program is all about.

ANNUAL HOBBYFEST
Thousands attended Hobbyfest and enjoyed a large variety of exciting hobby displays and demonstrations in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Hobbyfest has quickly become a favourite festival stop for families and individuals in the Sarnia/Lambton area looking for an   interest to call their own.   Hobbyfest continues to give local groups and organizations the opportunity to increase their visibility in the community, show off/share their achievements and recruit new members.   Hobbyfest is also a fun, relaxing, educational community event that allows the Community to participate in hands-on interactive demonstrations and displays.

DOW PEOPLE PLACE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
STAGE PERFORMANCES (May-Sept)
The Dow People Place Entertainment Center in Centennial Park has quickly become a favorite destination for families and friends to gather nightly and enjoy a variety of Community music, dance and variety shows. Some of Sarnia’s best talent performs each night and the audiences have shown their support by coming down to the Park rain or shine.

The Dow People Place continues to be an ideal outdoor venue for many Community Clubs and Organizations to host their Special Events and Festivals such as Canada Day, Snowfest, San Rocco Festival, Cruise in the Park, Hot August Nights, Community Worship Services and the VON Memorial Ceremony.

There were several new events hosted in 2009 such as Playfair Music Youth Choir and Band Concert, Great Big Jam, The Landing and the return of Gospel By the Bay. We anticipate another busy and exciting 2010 season

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS
More that 80 children attended our summer workshops held at the Dow People Place      Entertainment Centre. The CHILDREN’S ART WORKSHOP held in cooperation with the Sarnia Artists’ Workshop & ART EXPLOSION held in cooperation with Harmony provided healthy play and learning experiences for young children at affordable rates.

One young artist’s survey response: “I liked the Workshop because it’s close to the park and its nice to be outside. I can’t wait to go back next year!”
