Waste Container Sizes

For waste collection, rigid containers, especially plastic or aluminum, are acceptable. Full containers may not weigh more than 22kg (48 pounds), or hold in excess of 360L (95 gallons). Plastic bags of garbage set to the curb for collection must not weigh more than 22kg (48 pounds).

For recycling collection, blue boxes of any size containing recyclables will be accepted, as long as the weight does not exceed 22kg (48 pounds). Boxes must be flattened, and bundled cardboard must not exceed 76cm by 76cm by 20cm (or 30 inches, by 30 inches, by 8 inches). There is no need to separate the recyclable items, and they can all be placed together in the bin or plastic bag for roadside collection.

Yard waste may be placed to the curb in a clear plastic, or a 110L (29 US gallon) kraft paper bag, not weighing more than 22kg (48 pounds).

Brush must be be tied in bundles, set in 110L (29 gallon) plastic bags, or placed in open containers marked with an “X” to identify it as a brush container. Bundles, bags or containers may not weigh more than 22kg (48 pounds).
