The City of Sarnia and the Age-Friendly Sarnia Steering Committee invite all members of the public to attend the 2018 Age-Friendly Community Summit.
The summit will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Lambton College Event Centre and will feature a review of the Age-Friendly Sarnia Community Action Plan, a report card on progress to date and a discussion of future plans.
Dr. Ellen Ryan, Professor Emeritus in McMaster University’s Department of Health, Aging and Society, will present the keynote address, “Resilient Aging in Community.” Dr. Ryan leads Writing Down our Years, a blog and book series that encourages people to write as they age, as well as Hamilton Aging in Community, a grass-roots organization that is focused on alternative housing options and mutual support for seniors in Hamilton.
“The Age-Friendly Summit is our opportunity to update the community on the work that the steering committee and the seven sub-committees have completed to date,” explains Dale Mosley, Accessibility Coordinator with the City of Sarnia. “We will be presenting our Age-Friendly Report Card and talking about future plans for Age-Friendly Sarnia. It will be an exciting event.”
