The Sarnia Primary Control Group (SPCG) met via teleconference on June 25, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. regarding developments related to the COVID-19.
Today, the Federal Government announced the launch of the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG), which will support post-secondary students and recent graduates as they volunteer to serve in their communities’ COVID-19 response and gain valuable experience at the same time.
The CSSG will provide volunteers with a one-time payment of between $1,000 and $5,000 based on the number of hours they serve. To find not-for-profit organizations looking for help during the pandemic, post-secondary students and recent graduates can use the new I Want to Help platform, which also launched today.
The Sarnia Canada Day Committee has created plans to celebrate Canada Day 2020 on a smaller scale and virtual, given this year’s in-person July 1st Canada Day Celebrations have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Visit the City’s website for details: https://www.sarnia.ca/sarnia-canada-day-celebrations-2/
Sarnia Transit & Care-A Van will not operate on July 1, 2020. Service will resume on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Additional details are available online: https://www.sarnia.ca/transit-updates/
