The City of Sarnia has partnered with Language Line Solutions, a trusted partner to thousands of government agencies for interpretation services.

Linguistic and cultural barriers can sometimes delay service delivery and lead to repeat visits and calls. With the introduction of Language Line Service for Interpretation Services, the City can substantially reduce these concerns by easing the flow of communication with limited English speaking, deaf, and hard-of-hearing citizens and allowing staff to address them in the language they understand best.

City staff now have access to 11,000 professional, on-demand interpreters via audio or video in more than 240 languages, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

“We are working to continuously improve access to City services to ensure they are easier, simpler, and faster for all citizens, while also ensuring they are effective”, said Andrea Lane, Manager, Customer Service. “This new service will not only address an emerging citizen need, it will also allow for ease of use by putting the power of Language Line linguists in the pockets of office staff and in-the-field workers; providing one-touch, on-demand access to professional interpretation services.”
