In March 2020, the Lawrence House closed temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the closure, the Lawrence House Board of Directors established a Re-Opening Sub-Committee to create a plan with a goal to re-open in October.

The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts is delighted to announce they will re-open on Friday, October 2, 2020 and will be open three days a week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am – 4:00pm.

The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts Re-Opening Plan has been reviewed by Lambton Public Health and a walk-through of the building was conducted by the City Health and Safety Officer.

During the closure, staff were able to work on a variety of maintenance projects that will be completed in time for re-opening. Lawrence House Board Members and volunteers were able to transfer the Gift Shop to an online format and are now able to feature a virtual writing blog to patrons.

The Lawrence House was donated to the City of Sarnia 1977 and was fully restored in 1986. The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts officially opened its doors on June 17, 2001, providing a venue for performances, exhibitions, educational programs and special activities for all ages. The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts is a community based, independent, not-for-profit, charitable organization committed to encouraging the creation and appreciation of the visual, performing and literary arts in Sarnia Lambton.
