We are pleased to announce that the Sarnia Professional Firefighters Association (SPFFA) and the City of Sarnia have successfully ratified a new four-year collective agreement dating back to January 1, 2020, through to December 31, 2023. The SPFFA and City Management team worked cooperatively and diligently to meet the needs of Sarnia’s ratepayers while ensuring fair compensation within their market comparators.

“Leads on each side of the table, David Logan, General Manager of Corporate Services, and Matt Madere, SPFFA President, set the tone for respectful and professional negotiations. An agreed upon collective agreement speaks well to the current labour/management relationship”, said Sarnia Fire Chief Bryan Van Gaver.

SPFFA President, Matt Madere, believes “all parties received a fair and equitable deal. We thank the City for being prepared to bargain in good faith and look forward to the next few years where we will continue to protect and serve the citizens of Sarnia, on and off the job.” The new agreement signals a significant step forward and we look forward to continuing to maintain the collaborative relationship established through the bargaining process.
