Commemorative Asset Program Information

The Commemorative Asset Program allows for citizens and groups to sponsor/donate towards a City asset (bench, tree, etc.) in a municipal park space to celebrate and remember a loved one, special event, special time, etc.

2023 Commemorative Tree Application

The Commemorative Asset Program allows for citizens and groups to sponsor/donate towards a City asset (bench, tree, etc.) in a municipal park space to celebrate and/or remember a loved one, special event, special time, and more. This allows for individuals to have a personal keepsake within a City park that also provides more and/or revitalized assets for the general public to enjoy. Please ensure you have read and fully understand the Commemorative Asset Policy before submitting a request, to ensure you are aware of the program Terms and Conditions. Due to demand and to manage resources, a maximum of 10 applications are accepted per calendar year. Applicants will be contacted directly within 30 days of submitting a request.

    Payment will be due upon approval of your request. Instructions will be provided to you at that time. You will have the option to receive a Tax Receipt for your payment.
  • Please include as much detail as possible regarding your desired location and species. You may submit location photos below, if you wish. NOTE: Your requested location and species is NOT guaranteed. Staff will determine the final location and species with consideration to your preferences.

    The term for a Commemorative Tree is 2 years, and there is no renewal option. The donation fee covers the purchase, planting, and any maintenance and repair during the lifetime of the tree. The City will replace a commemorative asset if deemed necessary by the Parks Supervisor within the sponsorship period. The City reserves the right to relocate the asset if unforeseen circumstances arise due to its location or setting. Nothing herein shall prevent the immediate removal of any item deemed by staff to constitute an immediate safety concern. Should the parkland containing asset be altered, the City shall make its best efforts to relocate within the property. To maintaining quality and safety of product and installation, substitution of other providers, bench options or do-it-yourself work shall not be permitted.
