The City of Sarnia is currently seeking applicants for the Airport Action Working Group to fill two (2) ‘public at large’ vacancies.

The mission of the Sarnia Airport Action Working Group is to inform and advise Sarnia City Council on the opportunities and strategic direction that the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport may take to maximize its economic impact in the community.

The key activities to be undertaken by members of this committee will include:
• Conducting additional community engagement,
• Reviewing comparable airports and their governance and funding,
• Facilitating conversations with industry professionals to determine potential future use recommendations in sectors of relevance including but not limited to agriculture, logistics and warehousing, passenger service, research and development, technology, transportation, etc.,
• Preparing a final report on these activities to Sarnia City Council that provides recommendations on potential future use.

Members of the Airport Action Working Group will serve until October 2021.

The appointment will be considered by Sarnia City Council at its closed meeting to be held on Monday, March 1, 2021. Applicants will be contacted about the status of their application following the meeting.
