The City of Sarnia is currently seeking applicants for the Planning Advisory Committee who will act as the Steering Committee for the Growth Management Program.

The Growth Management Program is intended to significantly modernize the City’s land use investment framework and responds to Council direction to reduce red-tape in service delivery, reduce investment risk to incent housing and other development activity, and to streamline the development approvals environment.

The Growth Management program will make foundational recommendations to Council over the next 18 months about where and how the City of Sarnia may grow in the coming decades. The first phase of the program will be looking at the need for an urban boundary expansion versus greater focus on intensification. Following this, a modernization of the Official Plan and zoning by-law will advance that will focus on creating more user-friendly documents, simplified standards, and a reduction in unnecessary planning applications and other red tape in the land development review and approvals environment.

It is estimated that the Committee will meet approximately eight to ten times per year. If selected, appointee responsibilities will include a commitment to attend committee meetings.

All interested applicants must submit their application by Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at noon. Applications must be submitted by using the online application form available at:
