TAKE NOTICE that the City of Sarnia has received a complete application for a proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment (Application No. 9-2024) under s.34 of the Planning Act.

AND TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Sarnia will hold a Statutory Public Meeting regarding Zoning By-Law Amendment No. 9-2024 on January 20, 2025, during its regular Council Meeting commencing at 1:00 p.m. by electronic means.

THE LANDS SUBJECT to Zoning By-Law Amendment Application No. 9-2024 are known municipally as 254 & 264 George Street, Sarnia.The subject lands are located on the north side of George Street, between College Avenue North and Forsyth Avenue North.

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of Zoning By-law Amendment No. 9-2024 is to add aquamation use (alkaline hydrolysis) as an accessory use to the existing funeral home.

The aquamation facilities/equipment will be contained within the existing building footprint.

To ensure your comments are received by Council, written comments must be submitted by 12:00 pm, Friday, January 17, 2025.

Oral Submissions

If you wish to make oral submissions at the public meeting, we encourage you to pre-register through the Clerks Department by email to clerks@sarnia.ca or by phone at 519.332.0330 Ext. 3320.

APPEAL INFORMATION

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the City of Sarnia to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Sarnia before the Zoning By-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decisions.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Sarnia before the Zoning By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
