Notice is hereby given that at its meeting scheduled for Monday, October 25, 2021, Sarnia City Council will consider the adoption of a revised Sponsorship, Advertising, and Charitable Giving Policy for the City of Sarnia.

The revised Sponsorship, Advertising, and Charitable Giving Policy establishes a process to evaluate and accept or decline charitable giving and sponsorship opportunities and undertake advertising activities while safeguarding the City’s corporate values, image, assets, and interests while increasing the opportunities for revenue generation and third-party partnerships.

Most of the updates are minor edits for consistency. The most significant changes are the inclusion of a definition for “Naming Rights” and the increase in the authority for the CAO and General Managers to accept sponsorships from $5,000 to $50,000, the latter to allow for a more practical application of the Policy.

The proposed policy is available by visiting the Financial Policies section of the City’s Website www.sarnia.ca/draft-sponsorships-advertising-and-charitable-giving-policy/ or by visiting the City’s community input page www.speakupsarnia.ca/sponsorship-advertising-and-charitable-giving-policy

If you have input that you would like to be considered by Council, please provide it to the Finance Department no later than Friday, October 8, 2021 by email to finance@sarnia.ca or by mail at 255 N. Christina Street, P.O. Box 3018, Sarnia, ON, N7T 7N2.
