The City of Sarnia is hiring individuals to assist in the delivery of the 2022 Municipal Election.

Election-day positions

The City of Sarnia requires a team of election workers for Voting Day on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.  Positions include:

  • Deputy returning officer, $350
  • Revision clerk, $325
  • Tabulator operators, $325
  • Greeters, $280

Election Workers must attend both the in-person training session and work on voting day (8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) to be eligible for compensation listed above.

Key qualifications include:

  • The ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills to effectively provide direction and instruction
  • Previous experience as an election official is an asset
  • Comfort using and learning voting technology
  • The ability to spend long durations sitting and/or standing

Applicants must:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Comply with the City’s Mandatory Vaccination Policy

Applicants must not be:

  • A candidate or registered third-party advertiser
  • An immediate family member of a candidate
  • Actively working to support or oppose a candidate in the City of Sarnia Municipal and School Board Election
