April 3, 2024 – Celebrate the Earth Day weekend by joining the City of Sarnia to get litter out of the environment and where it belongs, in the landfill.

The annual City of Sarnia Community Clean-Up Day will return Saturday, April 20. Participants can sign up as individuals or as a group and select a location to clean up litter on Earth Day. They also have the option to obtain clean-up kits featuring bags, gloves, and other supplies donated by NOVA Chemicals.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out and celebrate Earth Day by reducing litter in the environment while helping keep your favourite park, path, or outdoor space beautiful,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Krissy Glavin.

The clean-up will run from 10 a.m. to noon on April 20, the Saturday before Earth Day, although participants are welcome to collect litter anytime in the week leading up to the event. All registered participants are invited to a barbecue hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours at Germain Park following the clean-up.

Clean-up kits are available as supplies last. Participants who request clean-up kits will be able to collect them at the Strangway Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 19.
