An elector who is entitled to vote in an election and believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Municipal Elections Act relating to election campaign finances may apply for a compliance audit of the candidate’s election campaign finances.

An application for a compliance audit of the campaign finances of a candidate who sought election to an office on Sarnia City Council should be filed with the City Clerk. An application for a compliance audit of the campaign finances of a candidate who sought election to office on a school board should be filed with the respective school board secretary.

The application must be made on or before June 29th, 2023, being ninety (90) days after the last date for the candidates’ filing of Financial Statements for the 2022 election.
