July 1, 2023 – With Environment Canada ending its Special Air Quality Statement for the city, Sarnia Fire Rescue Services is lifting the current ban on recreational open-air burning.

The burn ban, which came into effect on June 27, 2023, will be lifted effective immediately.

Fire Chief Bryan Van Gaver would like to thank all Sarnia residents for their assistance in reducing the impact of smoke on air quality.

While air quality continues to improve, residents are advised to follow the directions of Lambton Public Health as it relates to air-quality-related health concerns.
