The City of Sarnia celebrates Cestar College’s generous $4 million donation towards the Sarnia-Lambton Oversized Load Corridor. Cestar College’s donation will be recognized with naming rights to the new dock facility which will be constructed as part of the project. The dock, located at the end of Exmouth Street, will be named “Cestar Dock.”

The oversized load corridor is a designated protected route on existing roadways connecting fabricators and Sarnia-Lambton’s industrial base to the Port of Sarnia for the unimpeded import/export and trans-shipment of oversized product. This route will improve the competitiveness of local fabricators and large industry by reducing shipping costs, creating new jobs, and increasing the potential for the export of valuable locally manufactured vessels, reactors, and modules.

With this final donation installment, Cestar College fulfilled its generous $4 million donation. Construction of the project is currently underway, and expected to be complete by the end of 2023, with an estimated total cost of $17 million.

“When the incredible donation by Cestar was announced in 2019, we welcomed Cestar into the greater City Family for investing in a legacy project that will strengthen and diversify the economy of Sarnia-Lambton.  Since 2019, the City has worked with Cestar moving forward on this project while concurrently Cestar has made additional donations to the community including to Lambton College, the Sarnia Sting and to Social Agencies in Sarnia to help those in need through the Inn of the Good Shepherd” – Mayor Mike Bradley.

“Lambton College is very proud of our partnership with Cestar College and how it has evolved over the years. A shining example of that evolution is Cestar’s reinvestment into Sarnia-Lambton, specifically through the Oversized Load Corridor, which stands to have a significant impact on the prosperity of our community.” –Rob Kardas, President & CEO of Lambton College

“Cestar College is thrilled to be part of the Sarnia-Lambton Oversized Load Corridor project. ‘Cestar Dock’ serves as a symbol of the prosperous relationship between Lambton College and Cestar College, and we are proud to contribute to this vital infrastructure development initiative. With the ups and downs of the past two years, and the financial hardships many have faced, we are grateful to be able to give back to the community and to be part of a project that will have long-lasting impacts—not only within the Sarnia-Lambton community, but on the Ontario economy as a whole.” – Adrian Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of Cestar College

“Cestar is proud of its relationship with Lambton College, the City of Sarnia and the students who benefit from the work we provide in education.  We are delighted to maintain our commitment to the City and people of Sarnia through this gift.” – Hufeng Chen, President of Cestar College.
