June 26, 2025  — The City of Sarnia is looking to residents — most notably those living with a disability requiring accommodations for transportation, and their caregivers — to provide insight on their experiences as they relate to the delivery of accessible taxi service in the City.

While the City does not offer taxi services directly, the municipality does play a role in the licensing of taxi services. To better understand the needs of residents living with a disability, and the current accessible transportation landscape, the City, in cooperation with the Sarnia Accessibility Advisory Committee (SAAC), has launched a survey via www.speakupsarnia.ca, to engage those individuals requiring accommodation on their experiences and needs.

The data generated through the survey will be used to inform the SAAC as it reviews potential avenues for the City to improve or facilitate more diverse accessible transportation options.

“We’re always trying to better understand, and address, accessibility need in the community, and this survey is an extension of that. We’re hoping it will provide us with greater insight to what is currently offered, what services are being utilized, and what can potentially be improved in our community,” said SAAC Chair Debbie Draganits.

The survey engages participants on their experiences not only with accessible taxis, but also on current City-led accessible transportation services such as Sarnia Transit’s Care-A-Van program.

The survey will remain open until July 18, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. To access the survey, visit www.speakupsarnia.ca/Taxi2025.
