March 15, 2024 — With design work underway for a potential gymnasium addition to the Strangway Centre, accommodating an increased diversity of programming opportunities, the City is looking to the public for input on potential design features.

The City of Sarnia launched an online project page and survey today ahead of two in-person public engagement sessions on March 28. Possible features for the potential addition include changerooms and washrooms, a full-size gymnasium, stage, multi-purpose seating area, and outdoor programming area.

“We’re looking intently at how we can improve the Strangway Centre and its community program offerings. We want to ensure those improvements reflect the needs of both current and future users, so we are looking to the public for their insight,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Krissy Glavin.

Interested individuals can visit www.speakupsarnia.ca/StrangwayGym to learn more about the proposed changes and provide their input on the initial designs, alongside potential future programming opportunities at the Strangway Centre. The survey will remain open until 4 p.m. on April 4, 2024.

Those interested in learning more and providing their feedback in person can attend one of two, in-person public engagement sessions in the centre’s multi-purpose room on March 28, 2024. The first will run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; the second will run from 5 to 7 p.m.
