The City of Sarnia is extending its deepest gratitude to a donor who has stepped up for their community, making a generous $50,000 donation toward the City’s recreation facility landscape.

The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, recently made the sizeable donation for improvements to City parks. The donation will add to an existing proposed expenditure of $300,000 for playground improvements in 2023.

“There is no real way we can thank the donor enough. Support like this will mean so much to the children who visit our parks, providing them with improved opportunities to play and grow. It’s a huge encouragement for all our staff seeing the community contribute in this way, from the bottom of all our hearts, thank you,” said CAO Chris Carter.

The City is currently preparing to replace playground equipment at Cardiff Park, Lansdowne Park, Agincourt Park, and Retlaw Park in the year ahead. While the exact use of the donation is still being investigated, the generous support will allow for greater options in the selection of equipment, or possibly the selection of an additional park for playground replacement in 2023.
