Michelle Alton will step down from her role as General Manager of Corporate Services and City Solicitor for the City of Sarnia, effective Sept. 16.

Michelle joined the City after serving as the General Counsel of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal for over seven years. Alton will leave the City to take on a new position as an Assistant Crown Attorney.

“Michelle has been great to work with and I want to thank her for her leadership and knowledge during that time. We all wish her well as she embarks on this exciting new position back in the justice system,” said Chief Administrative Officer Chris Carter.

“I am certainly grateful for my time spent with the City of Sarnia and the dedication of its many staff. It has been fantastic to be a part of municipal government, contributing to the diverse viewpoints and skillsets that come together to keep our community moving forward,” said Alton.

As Alton transitions out of the position, David Stockdale will assume the role of Acting General Manager of Corporate Services. Olivia Nisbet will be appointed as the Acting City Solicitor. Both Stockdale and Nisbet bring considerable experience and a track record of excellence in public service to their respective roles.
