David Stockdale will move into the role of General Manager of Corporate Services permanently, contributing an exemplary track record of leadership and a broad knowledge base to the City’s senior leadership.

Stockdale delivers more than a decade of municipal experience to the role, including work as the City of Sarnia Manager of Human Resources and 10 years with the City of Kitchener. Stockdale has filled the acting role of General Manager of Corporate Services since the departure of Michelle Alton in August.

“I’m very excited to be continuing my work in this role, it’s a chance to advance team dynamics at the City with a focus on supporting the myriad of departments and working groups that deliver critical services to residents every day,” said Stockdale.

Stockdale’s experience in supporting project teams and building internal relationships is strengthened by his contextual knowledge established at the City of Sarnia over the last two years.

“David has already excelled at the role; he brings a wide range of experience and has built strong working relationships with staff across all levels of the organization. He knows the City; he knows the staff and he knows the challenges municipalities can face, he’s a proven leader that will help us build a stronger, more cohesive City team,” said CAO Chris Carter.

Stockdale will oversee Corporate Services including finance, human resources, legal services, purchasing, communications, customer service and emergency management.
