The nomination deadline has been extended to November 6, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.

The City of Sarnia is looking to the public to submit nominations for individuals and businesses that have gone above and beyond for people with disabilities.

Nominations are now open for the annual City of Sarnia Accessibility Awards, hosted by the Sarnia Accessibility Advisory Committee (SAAC). Now in their 11th year, the awards recognize local accessibility leaders who have gone the extra mile to improve accessibility and awareness for people with disabilities.

“Across our community there are those who step up, day after day, to improve the lives of individuals with a disability. Their dedication to creating a safe and inclusive community deserves recognition,” said SAAC Chair Debbie Draganits.

Nominations can be submitted for the following categories:

  • Prelude to Excellence (for large and small businesses)
  • Exceptional leadership in Customer
  • Creating opportunities for an Accessible
  • Exceptional Accessible Physical Environment
  • Going Above and Beyond Award
  • Outstanding Customer Service in a Social Service Sector
  • Kevin Schenk Legacy Award
