The City is looking for interested community members to team up, roll up their sleeves, and help clean up litter across Sarnia for Earth Day.

The annual City of Sarnia Community Clean-Up Day will return April 22, expanding this year beyond City parks to trails, green spaces, boulevards, sidewalks, and other public areas. Participants can sign up as individuals or as a group and select a location to clean up litter on Earth Day. They also have the option to obtain clean-up kits featuring bags, gloves, and other supplies donated by NOVA Chemicals.

“We’re so excited to bring back the Community Clean-Up with expanded opportunities for participants to beautify the public spaces in their community that mean the most to them,” said Community Services Coordinator Rachel Veilleux, adding, “it’s a great opportunity to get out and celebrate Earth Day by reducing litter in the environment.”

The clean-up will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Earth Day, April 22, although participants are welcome to collect litter anytime in the week leading up to the event. All registered participants are invited to a barbecue hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours at Germain Park following the clean-up.

Clean-up kits are available as supplies last. Participants who request clean-up kits will be able to collect them at the Strangway Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between Wednesday, April 19 to Friday, April 21.
