March 4, 2025 — From organized sports to a range of fitness and wellness; arts and culture; and special interest programs, there are no shortage of ways residents can get active and engaged with the City of Sarnia this year.

Prospective participants for City recreation programs can now view the full lineup of spring-summer recreation programs before registration opens on March 18, 2025. The City offers around 85 unique programs through the Strangway Centre, which last year served upwards of 2,000 participants.

“We have something for everyone. From educational offerings like the new Rudimentary Tech Literacy program to sport-based opportunities such as organized outdoor sports, there should be something in the spring-summer sessions for every interest,” said activities programmer Mike Neely.

New programs offered in the spring-summer session include:

  • Art in Canada: Coast to Coast — An eight-week art program exploring Canadian creativity through drawing, painting, and mixed media.
  • Dance Fusion — A program featuring exciting dance routines with props like hats, canes, and feather fans.
  • Chair Qi Gong — A program inviting participants to learn the healing power of seated Qi Gong through breathwork, gentle movements, and meditation.
  • Learn to Crochet — A six-week course introducing crochet.
  • Rudimentary Tech Literacy — A program for participants to learn how to navigate essential programs, apps, and device(s) with confidence.
