September 26, 2024 — The City is seeking volunteers for the annual Adopt-A-Driveway Program.
The program pairs individual or teams of volunteers with local homeowners who face challenges in clearing snow from their sidewalks, driveways and walkways during the winter months. Serving individuals over the age of 60, or those living with a disability, who also demonstrate financial need, the program helps vulnerable residents, while providing an opportunity for residents, groups, teams and organizations the opportunity to give back in a meaningful way.
“The program is such a great way for residents to give back their community. Be it high school students working on their community service hours, or a workplace group getting out for some team building, we can’t thank those willing to step up enough for their contribution,” said Steve Henschel, Communications Manager.
Historically the City has partnered with Lambton Elderly Outreach to deliver the program. This year, to provide for efficient and continued delivery of the program, the City will take over the program, and is currently seeking volunteers who are willing to Adopt-A-Driveway.
Volunteers remove snow every time three or more inches accumulate, with the City providing shovels, salt and safety vests.
