March 27, 2026  — The City is gearing up to celebrate Earth Day with a bit of spring cleaning of green spaces across the community.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 30 for the annual City of Sarnia Community Parks Clean-Up Day. The annual event will take place on the Saturday after Earth Day, April 25, 2026. Participants can sign up as individuals or as a group and select a park, trail or other green space to clean up litter. They also have the option to obtain clean-up kits with bags, gloves, and other supplies donated by NOVA Chemicals. Last year over 350 individuals participated in cleaning up spaces across the community.

“What better way to celebrate Earth Day in Sarnia than by getting litter out of the green spaces that are so valued in our community for everything from athletics to quiet outdoor contemplation. Anyone is welcome to sign up, grab a clean-up kit and help get litter out of parks and into landfill,” said Recreation Coordinator Rebecca Warren.

The clean-up will run from 10 a.m. to noon on April 25, although participants are welcome to collect litter anytime in the week leading up to the event. All registered participants are invited to a barbecue hosted by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After-Hours at Germain Park following the clean-up.

Clean-up kits are available as supplies last. Participants who request clean-up kits will be able to collect them at the Strangway Centre on Friday, April 24, 2026.
