June 24, 2025 — To accommodate the Canada Day there will be impacts to several City facilities and services on July 1.

The following City facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 1:

  • City Hall
  • The Strangway Centre
  • The Sarnia Compost Site
  • Sarnia Transit Offices

July 1 Transit Service

Buses run on a special service schedule on July 1, 2025. Learn more about Canada Day service on our Transit Page.

Event Shuttle Service

Sarnia Transit will offer special free shuttle services to both Canatara Park and Centennial Park, allowing visitors to park off site. Shuttles will run between Northgate Terminal and Canatara Park, every half hour, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. Shuttles will run between Northgate Terminal and Centennial Park, every half hour, from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Waste Collection

Garbage, recycling and large item collections will occur, however collection may take place earlier in the day than usual to facilitate Canada Day celebrations. Residents with a Tuesday collection should place waste at the curb the night before to ensure it is collected.

Road Closures

The following road closures will be in effect July 1, 2025 to facilitate Canada Day celebrations:

  • Lakeshore Road from Indian to Christina Street North starting at 9 a.m.
  • Christina Street (north of Hollywood Place) starting at 9 a.m.
  • Front Street from Exmouth Street to London Road starting at 11 a.m.
  • Seaway Road west of the Sarnia Marina starting at 3 p.m. — businesses remain open

During the holiday closure residents are asked to reach out only in instances of immediate concern such as watermain breaks, animals at large, and dangerous downed trees. Please call 519-332-0330 and follow the prompts.
