June 24, 2026 — To accommodate the Canada Day there will be impacts to several City facilities and services on July 1.

The following City facilities will be closed on Wednesday, July 1:

  • City Hall
  • The Strangway Centre
  • The Sarnia Compost Site
  • Sarnia Transit Offices

July 1 Transit Service

Event Shuttle Service

Sarnia Transit will offer special free shuttle services to both Canatara Park and Centennial Park, allowing visitors to park off site.

Shuttles will run between Northgate Terminal and Canatara Park, every half hour, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m.  The stop location is just south of Cathcart Boulevard on Christina Street North.

Shuttles will run between Northgate Terminal and Centennial Park, every half hour, from 8 to 11:00 p.m. The stop is located at the bus shelter on Front Street at Centennial.

Waste Collection

Garbage, recycling and large item collections will occur.

Road Closures

The following road closures will be in effect July 1, 2026 to facilitate Canada Day celebrations:

  • Lakeshore Road from Indian to Christina Street North starting at 9 a.m.
  • Christina Street (north of Hollywood Place) starting at 9 a.m.
  • Lake Chipican Drive starting at 9 a.m.
  • Sandy Lane starting at 9 a.m.
  • Front Street from Exmouth Street to London Road starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Seaway Road west of the Sarnia Marina starting at 3 p.m. — businesses remain open

During the holiday closure residents are asked to reach out only in instances of immediate concern such as watermain breaks, animals at large, and dangerous downed trees. Please call 519-332-0330 and follow the prompts.

Report municipal emergencies afterhours, on evenings and weekends by calling 226-472-1150 or 519-332-0330 and pressing ‘1’ to speak to the City’s third-party service provider.
