The City of Sarnia is looking for individuals interested in engaging on civic matters and providing ideas and constructive input to help shape City policy and decisions on a broad range of issues. We are looking for representation from a diverse group of individuals who possess various skills, expertise and experience to serve on Committees.

Sarnia City Council will consider citizen appointments to the following Committees at its February 10, 2025 meeting. If selected, volunteer responsibilities will include a commitment to attend regular committee meetings. All appointments are for the remainder of this term of Sarnia City Council (expiring November 14, 2026).

Applications are now being accepted for the following Committees:

Bluewater Trails Committee

Established by Council to assist in the planning, development, maintenance and marketing of a safe network of pathways and trails in the City of Sarnia.

Court of Revision Under the Drainage Act

Established pursuant to Section 97 of the Drainage Act to hear appeals on assessments of costs for municipal drainage works under the Drainage Act. Drainage Act training will be provided to successful applicants. Must be a resident or property owner in the City to be appointed.

Mitton Village Community Development Advisory Committee

Established by Council to inform and advise on opportunities and barriers in Mitton Village that contribute or detract from the area as a vibrant place to live, work and play.

Sarnia Accessibility Advisory Committee

Established pursuant to Section 29(1) of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) for the purpose of advising Council on matters pertaining to persons with disabilities in the community.

Sarnia Environmental Advisory Committee

Established by Council to provide advice and recommendations on environmental matters.

Sarnia Heritage Committee

Established pursuant to Section 28 of the Heritage Act to advise and assist Council on all matters relating to Parts IV and V of the Heritage Act and such other matters as Council may specify.

Transit Advisory Committee

Established by Council to provide advice and recommendations to enhance the transit service and support an accessible, reliable and affordable system.

United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) Working Group

Established by Council to develop a plan to advance the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples within the City of Sarnia.

Lambton Farm Safety Association
