Update, Nov. 7, 2023: Exmouth Street at the Rapids Parkway has reopened to traffic.
August 18, 2023 — Exmouth Street will be closed from Lambton Mall Road to Pontiac Drive starting August 21, 2023 to facilitate the Rapids Parkway extension project.
Improvements to Exmouth Street sightlines will also be included as part of the work. Rapids Parkway is being extended in several phases to joining Exmouth Street with the existing parkway to the north of Highway 402. The investment will help alleviate congestion and provide capacity for ongoing growth in the east end of the City.
Work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.
Detour
Motorists can utilize Lambton Mall Road, London Road and Murphy Road as a detour to circumvent the closure area.
Transit impacts
Due to the closure on Exmouth Street, Sarnia Transit Route 8/14 will have a detour in effect starting Aug. 21, 2023.
The bus will depart Murphy Road Terminal and turn east on London Road before turning north on Lambton Mall Road and resuming its normal route. There will be no service on Pontiac Drive and Exmouth Street between Pontiac Drive and Lambton Mall Road while the detour is in effect.
