June 5, 2025 — The northernmost portion of the east parking lot at Germain Park will be closed starting Monday, June 9, 2025 to facilitate the installation of sewer forcemain as part of the Minto and Germain Street Reconstruction Project.

Project details
That $3.5 million flood-mitigation project will see one kilometre of forcemain replaced under Germain Park to capitalize on new Pumping Station 17 capacity, in addition to new, expanded storm and sanitary sewer for Mayfair Drive from Tweedsmuir to Minto; Minto Street from Mayfair to Germain; and Germain Street from Minto to Indian. The work will also include new road surface, watermain, sidewalk and curbs for these areas.
Park impacts
The closure of a portion the Germain Park lot will facilitate the initial phases of horizontal drilling and forcemain installation under the park. A small number of parking spaces at the tennis courts will also be impacted. Work is expected to take a week, depending on weather, and no impacts to other park amenities are expected during this timeframe.
