May 11, 2026 — The City’s 2026 Road Rehabilitation Program has initiated, with work currently underway  on Colborne Road from Cathcart Boulevard to Lakeshore Road.

This year’s $4.1 million rehabilitation program marks the largest annual expenditure on road resurfacing in the City’s history, continuing four year’s of record setting investments into road resurfacing. The roads included as part of the project are in addition to roads that will be surfaced as part of underground water and sewer infrastructure projects such as sewer / water / road reconstruction on Copland Road and Kathleen Avenue.

The City targets the roads most in need of resurfacing first, while also considering underground infrastructure needs. If a road will require underground infrastructure work in the near future, resurfacing is completed as part of that work. Roads are routinely evaluated, and the list of roads resurfaced in years to come is prone to changes based on budgetary considerations and changing physical conditions
