Work will commence in early April on reconstruction of portions of Wellington Street, Queen Street and Victoria Street.

Project scope

The $5.6-million project will include:

  • 720 metres of combined sewer separation, reducing inflows of stormwater into the sewer system and in turn reducing the costly treatment of stormwater, and mitigating the potential for storm-related sewer backups
  • New watermain installation
  • New road surface
  • New raised bicycle lanes on Wellington Street from Brock Street to Queen Street

This project is funded in part by the Infrastructure Canada Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund.

Traffic impacts

Drivers should expect shifting road closures in the project area as work is completed. It is suggested drivers utilize alternate routes to avoid the area during the construction period.

Project timeline

The project is expected to begin the first week of April 2024, dependent on weather and contractor mobilization. Work is targeted for completion in early winter 2024.

Project area

The project will include the areas of:

  • Victoria Street north from Wellington Street to Davis Street, including the Davis/Victoria intersection
  • Wellington Street from east of Queen Street to Brock Street, including the Brock Street and Vidal Street intersections.
  • Queen Street from Wellington Street to Talfourd Street
