During the December 20, 2017 Sarnia Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting, a motion was brought forth to eliminate the costs associated with accessible parking in a metered municipal parking lot. The motion was brought forth due to the complications that arise from permit holders having to travel a distance to the ticket machine or meters and then back to their vehicles to display the ticket. Some ticket machines are located in the lots that have accessibility barriers and are not on an accessible path of travel.

This situation will be corrected by allowing permit holders to use the accessible spaces in metered lots for a duration of two hours. After the two hours the vehicle will be required to relocate or will receive a fine.
