FAQs
Can I rent last minute ice?
Yes. Last minute ice (within 24 hours) can be rented for a discount of 25% off the rental fee. In Xplor, select the “Last Minute Ice Rentals (Within 24h)” option under “Arena Ice/Floor Rentals.”
Insurance is still required for last minute ice rentals. If staff discover that you have attended a rental without providing the proper insurance, you may be prohibited from future rentals.
Are dressing rooms included in my ice/floor rental?
Yes. Dressing rooms are included in all ice and floor rentals. You will receive access to your assigned dressing rooms 30 minutes prior to your rental start time and 30 minutes after your rental end time.
Dressing room assignments will be displayed on the TV monitor in the lobby of the arena.
Does ice maintenance take place during my rental?
Ice rentals are rented for a minimum of one hour. Ice time is based on a 50-minute hour, with the first 10-minutes allotted for surface flooding.
Can I have food/drink?
No. Food and drink are not permitted in the dressing rooms, on the benches, or on the ice surface (excluding water and sports drinks).
If you would like to have food and drink at your rental, consider renting in an arena that has an available community room.
Can I wear shoes on the ice?
No. Only ice skates or ice-certified skating aids are permitted on the ice surface.
How do I know if I fall under the Arena Allocation process?
Generally, if you are looking to rent on a regular recurring basis throughout a season, you would fall under the Arena Allocation Policy. This includes renting for an entire season, hosting a tournament, or if you are part of junior hockey, minor/youth or adult hockey, the school board, or a for-profit organization.
Online rentals are not available for these types of rentals. Please review the Arena Allocation Process section to complete and submit an application to staff.
Are arenas open on holidays?
Arenas are generally open regular hours on holidays. Review the below for exceptions.
Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2026 – Closed at 4 p.m.
Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2026 – Closed
New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2026 – Closed at 4 p.m.
New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2027 – Closed
