YMCA Camp Programming

Staff are delighted to announce an agreement is now in place that will provide an opportunity for over 500 kids to attend summer camp under YMCA Leadership at both Camp Saredaca and Newton Park this summer!

YMCA Camp Programs

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario will be offering their existing day camp programs, with enrollment of up to 45 campers per week (based on health measures and standards at the time), at Camp Saredaca and an additional 15 campers per week at Newton Park for 9 weeks this summer, with plans for weekly camps to commence the week of July 5, 2021.

These camp opportunities will be available for children 4 to 12 years old, with structured camp hours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, with safe socially distanced designated drop off and pick up times at all locations, and an opportunity for extended care.

Subsidy will be available through the County of Lambton and financial assistance is available through the YMCA Strong Kids program.

Virtual Programming

The Recreation Department is offering summer programming for adults 20+ due to popular demand – programming offerings will include fitness classes, yoga, tai chi, meditation, line dancing, card making and music (ukulele band). This is a great way for participants to stay connected and active during these challenging times.


Registration is now closed for this session. Programs will run until the week of June 28.

Registrations is done online at Active Communities Sarnia or call Customer Service at 519-332-0330 extension 3131 and staff can answer questions and register over the phone.

Future Programming

There are no future session scheduled at this time, staff are exploring July programming options.

We look forward to offering our programs in person again in-person when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we hope residents will take advantage of the virtual programs that are being offered as a great way to learn new hobbies and meet new people.

Free Programming – Celebrate Senior’s and Parks & Recreation Month

Celebrate Senior’s Month & Parks & Recreation Month in June:
We will be celebrating Parks & Recreation Month as well as Senior’s Month in June, so stay tuned for our invites to enjoy the many great parks we have in our community. And we will be offering a day of free online programs as part of the Senior Month celebrations on Friday, June 25 – please register at Active Communities Sarnia.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering our Red Cross Swim Lesson program this summer due to the complexities in offering these sessions during the pandemic. We look forward to the return of these program offerings next season!
