Adult Outdoor Programming

After a successful summer of outdoor programming, the Recreation Department will now be offering indoor programming for adults 20+. Participants have enjoyed the routine, activity and socialization that recreation programming contributes to their quality of life.

Programming includes, but is not limited to, fitness and wellness classes, carpet bowling, shuffleboard, footcare, card games, and pickleball. Programs will adhere to the Step Three restrictions.

Registration will open October 20th for programs that will begin on November 1st and run until the week of November 22nd.

Registration will open November 8th for programs that will begin on November 29th and run until the week of December 20th.

Registrations will be accepted online at Active Communities Sarnia or by  calling Customer Service at 519-332-0330 extension 3131 and staff can answer questions and register over the phone.

We look forward to offering our full schedule of programs in-person at the Strangway Centre when we can do so under the direction of the province.

Virtual Programming Opportunities

We understand those interested in programming may not be comfortable returning to in-person programming at this time. As such, virtual programming is offered FREE of charge until the end of the year through the Stay Active, Stay Connected Expansion Project, funded by Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors grant in conjunction with Oshawa Senior Community Centres, the City of Thunder Bay, the Town of Renfrew and the Town of Mono.

Programming is accessible via Zoom, Monday to Friday. Zoom training is offered free of charge for those who are interested in participating but unfamiliar with Zoom. Available programs are viewable online.

Low Impact Fitness, featuring yoga instructor Ann Bending, will be offered once again on YourTV. This is a seated exercise program, similar to Chair Yoga, which is available to Cogeco subscribers.
